New Years Goals

Here we are at the beginning of a new year (and decade!) I love the fresh start that a new year brings. Although we know that every day is a fresh start with our Lord as His mercies are new every morning!

I like to set goals for the year in each major area of my life. In addition to my yearly goal, I try to set mini goals each week to keep me on track and help me continue to make progress toward that end of the year mark. Sometimes what I dream of can seem a little unattainable, but when you break it up into smaller, more realistic goals, they seem much more doable. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, here are my goals for 2011.

Spirit~become a woman of prayer—this one is more vague and that’s because it is just something that I will know when I attain it.
"pray without ceasing."~1 Thessalonians 5:17

mini goal 1/3-1/9~pray before I get out of bed each morning
"Before daybreak, Jesus got up and went out to pray."~Mark 1:35

Body~lose 50 lbs.
"Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers."~3 John 1:2

mini goal 1/3-1/9~go to bed on time (11:00)
"It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working; for God gives rest to his loved ones."~Psalm 127:2

Soul (emotional/mental)~blogging
"You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."~1 Peter 2:9

mini goal 1/3-1/9~clear out any unwanted posts and start with a clean slate
"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, everything is made new."~2 Corinthians 5:17

Home~get home completely ready to move
"By wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established."~Proverbs 24:3

mini goal 1/3-1/9~organize and put away holiday decorations
"All things should be done decently and in order."~1 Corinthians 14:40

Relationships~become an encouragement to others
"Encourage one another and build one another up."~1 Thessalonians 5:11

mini goal 1/3-1/9~get back in the habit of asking Paul, "what can I do for you today?"
"It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a helper suitable for him."~Genesis 2:18
